The Chemex is one of the most iconic pour-over methods—loved for its clean, smooth taste and elegant design. In this video, you'll learn how to brew Chemex coffee—from choosing the right grind size to dialing in the perfect coffee-to-water ratio. We’ll walk you through each step, from filter prep to the final pour. Plus, we’ll share the exact pour times and recipe to help you dial it in at home. Chapters: 00:00 Introduction – Learn how to make coffee with Chemex, one of the most versatile brew methods. 00:27 Chemex Filters – Chemex filters are folded to form four layers. To use, pull one side of the filter to form a cone. 00:58 Prep the Filter – Rinse the filter with water just off the boil. 01:16 Grind Your Coffee – Measure out your coffee and grind to a medium/coarse size. 02:38 Empty Rinse Water – Pour out the rinse water before brewing. 02:47 Prep the Chemex – Put the filter back in the Chemex, add the coffee, and tare your scale. 03:16 Bloom – Start the timer and pour 60g of water to saturate the grounds. 04:17 First Pour – At 0:30, add 270g of water in a spiraling motion. 04:40 Second Pour – At 1:15, add an additional 200g of water. 05:53 Final Pour – At 2:00, add the last 150g of water. 06:12 Brew Time & Grind Size – The Chemex takes about 4 minutes to finish brewing.
