Destined for War? US-China Relations in 2017 - Political Scientist Graham Allison

The Institute of Politics, the Paulson Institute, and Harris Public Policy at the University of Chicago hosted political scientist and Harvard professor Graham Allison for a lunchtime discussion. As former assistant secretary of defense to President Clinton, Allison earned the Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service for his role in reducing the Soviet Union’s nuclear arsenal. Since then, he has served as director of Harvard’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, for which he is now a board member. In light of his latest book, “Destined for War: Can America and China Escape Thucydides’s Trap?,” Allison discussed the future of US-China relations, examining the potential conflicts between the two world powers. Evan Feigenbaum, vice chairman of the Paulson Institute, moderated the discussion. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGOytSubscribe About #UChicago: Since its founding in 1890, the University of Chicago has been a destination for rigorous inquiry and field-defining research. This transformative academic experience empowers students and scholars to challenge conventional thinking in pursuit of original ideas. #UChicago on the Web: Home: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGO-homepage News: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGO-news Facebook: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGO-FB Twitter: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGO-TW Instagram: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGO-IG University of Chicago on YouTube:    / uchicago   *** ACCESSIBILITY: If you experience any technical difficulties with this video or would like to make an accessibility-related request, please email [email protected].
