🌴 I’m Stick Man Steve, and today, I’m taking you along on an incredible journey to the stunning Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis, part of the Paradise Islands itinerary aboard the fabulous Marella Voyager. From thrilling hikes and breathtaking beaches to delicious food and refreshing drinks, this day was packed with adventure and relaxation. On Day 12, we docked at Port Zante in Basseterre, ready to experience the beauty and charm of St Kitts and Nevis. The Adventure Begins! Our day started on board the Marella Voyager with a hearty breakfast at The Kitchens (Deck 11). After fuelling up, we headed to The Coffee Port (Deck 6) for our morning caffeine fix – 2 double espressos to kick-start the day! ☕ The staff here are always brilliant, and the coffee? Perfection. The ship docked at Port Zante, and by 9 AM, we were off on our Marella excursion: “Volcanic Hike & Beach Break.” We boarded a boat that whisked us to Nevis in about 45 minutes. To our surprise, free cold drinks (beer, water, and sodas) were served on board – a welcome bonus! Discovering Nevis Once in Nevis, we hopped onto open-sided trucks for a scenic ride to our hiking trail. Our guide, “Ounce,” was an absolute legend – a local farmer and engineer with encyclopaedic knowledge about the island’s plants, history, and culture. 🌿 The hike took us through lush greenery and stopped at historical spots like the Montravers Estate, where we learned about the island’s past, including its ties to the sugar trade and slavery. The experience was both humbling and fascinating. After the hike, we arrived at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park for a short break. Then, it was off to Lime Beach Bar, where we enjoyed a delicious meal (included in the excursion) and ice-cold beers. 🍻 The staff were friendly, the food was fresh, and the vibe was incredible. A golf buggy took us to Pinney’s Beach, where we relaxed on complimentary sunbeds, soaking up the Caribbean sun. The crystal-clear waters and soft sands were like something out of a postcard! Back to Basseterre By mid-afternoon, we returned to Basseterre via boat. Again, free drinks were served on board, making the journey even more enjoyable. At the port, we explored the lively atmosphere of Port Zante, filled with bars, restaurants, souvenir shops, and duty-free outlets. Evening on the Marella Voyager Back on the ship, we headed to Squid and Anchor (Deck 7) for refreshing drinks before getting ready for dinner at Abuela Mexican Restaurant (Deck 11). The food here is a must-try – authentic flavours, fantastic service, and a casual, fun atmosphere. 🌮 To end the evening, we enjoyed nightcaps at Aperitif (Deck 7), reflecting on what had been one of our favourite days of the entire cruise.
