Sort Your Office. Sort Your Life. Having a new baby has to be one of the most extraordinarily special times in a person’s life. But, newborn babies are a lot of work! Say goodbye to happy hour and, well, showers for a little while at least. It's a little like an episode of the Walking Dead, but also like the Walking Dead, it’s AMAZING. Obviously, as a professional organizer, I think being organized is awesome. But, I can tell you from personal experience that being organized during times of great change is unfathomably helpful. And, what bigger change could there be than welcoming a new baby into the world? Thus, I’ve created a new package that I’m offering to help new and experienced parents get ready for this crazy wonderful time. Check out the details here. Or, if you’re interested in going solo, keep reading for some steps to help you prepare for your little bundle. Step One: Get Everything in One Place You may ask yourself, “Why does something so small need so much stuff?” I honestly don’t know and maybe they don’t, but most moms-to-be find themselves swimming in rockers and swaddlers and sleep sacks and bottles, etc. It’s no different for experienced parents either. Their stuff is usually either carefully packed away or thrown into a closet somewhere out of sight. Regardless, before you start organizing, you’ll want to get all of the baby-related things to one area, preferably the nursery, or wherever you’ll be keeping baby stuff. It’ll be easier to go through and organize everything if it’s all in one place. Step Two: Sort, Wash & Store Baby Clothes I recommend sorting baby clothes by age and only washing newborn and 0-3 month clothes. You’ll want to wait to wash the other clothes later, as they might gather dust before your baby is ready to wear them. Depending on how much and what kind of storage you have, you’ll either be hanging clothes in a closet or folding them in drawers or bins. (If you’re hanging them in a closet, I suggest getting all the same type of hanger.) It works best to separate and store the clothes according to age. Step Three: Sort, Wash & Store Linens Babies come with a lot of linens: blankets, crib sheets, pack-n-play sheets, Boppee covers, changing pad covers, burp cloths, bibs, etc. Wash, separate and store these according to type. I really like using these Ikea drawer organizers (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/pro...) but any drawer organizers will do. Read More Here: http://www.sortedaustin.com/#!Baby-Ba...
