Issue 02 — Featuring Slamet Riyadi (@rolleiflexology_), a Product Design lecturer at FSRD ITB and co-founder of Pala Nusantara (@palanusantara), who spends his days moving between campus, studio visits, and small moments of pause with his 1993 Suzuki Jimny JA11. In emerald green and named Nami, the Japanese word for “wave”, the Jimny reflects Slamet’s appreciation for playful design, summer atmospheres, and subtle Japanese influences. Compact, simple, and full of character, it’s a car he returned to after once letting go of his first Jimny and realizing how much he missed the feeling of driving one. This time, the idea was different. Less monochrome, more color. More utility, more joy. The car slowly became a personal canvas, from Californian-style mirrors to a roof rack ready for picnics, coffee stops, and spontaneous trips outside the city. Even the interior colors were chosen to reinforce one idea: this is a car for enjoying life. Most days, the Jimny carries him through Bandung’s daily rhythm: teaching classes, visiting Pala Nusantara, meeting collaborators, or simply spending time with friends on campus until evening. Inside the car, there’s always room for simple pleasures. Coffee beans, a small stove, cooking gear, just enough to brew coffee or cook Indomie during a quiet picnic. Sometimes the drive turns into a karaoke session with friends, turning the small cabin into a moving living room. Despite its age, the Jimny never feels old to him. Its simplicity invites curiosity, to maintain, to modify, to personalize. Over time, it has become more than transportation. It’s part of his daily routine, creative process, and family life. “It may sound cliché,” Slamet says, “but I always try to do my best in whatever I do. We never know how big the impact will be, but doing things wholeheartedly always leads somewhere better.” #MilesAndMemos #OTTTO #TrackTimeThreads #SuzukiJimny #JimnyJA11
