This MILK DROP photography tutorial will show you exactly what GEAR and what camera SETTINGS to use to take amazing milk drop photos. Splash art photography can be easy and lots of fun. Let's start with YOUR OBJECTIVE =============================== MILK DROP PHOTOGRAPHY is similar to water drop collision photography, but there is an advantage. It's MORE CREATIVE! And it's a really fun form of high speed photography. Water drop photography at home is cool, and you can take some awesome water drop shots. While adjusting the container/lights, you can adjust the colour of the shots. But MILK DROP PHOTOGRAPHY is different. You're able to create much MORE COLOURFUL shots with milk drop photography. Colouring the milk is easy, use food colouring. (https://amzn.to/2r1rKru). With that in mind: create an environment where you are focused on a small area of milk use a dropper to release a drop of milk take the shot when the milk hits (practice!) FOOD COLOURING - https://amzn.to/2r1rKru 9 DROPPER - https://amzn.to/2Fimo01 THE SETUP ========= The setup for milk drop photography is easy. Just follow these steps. 1. Place a shallow glass under towel on the table (it is "splash art" after all) 2. Place a black poster board behind the glass (YOU CAN VARY THIS) 3. Place a white poster board to one side of the glass (within a foot or so) NOTE - I use GAFFER TAPE to affix the poster boards and such. You need to BUY GAFFER TAPE! Sticks better than Scotch, less residue. https://amzn.to/2r1bVBk 4. FLASH PLACEMENT - you can either put to one side and facing reflector, or try different techniques for milk drop photos. 5. FLASH TRIGER - you want a flash on a mini stand and facing a reflector, requires a flash trigger. Or flash on the hot shoe and point to reflector. 6. USE MACRO LENS OR ADAPTOR - use a macro lens (https://amzn.to/2qZkD31) or an extension tube (https://amzn.to/2r1vhpJ) for this milk drop photography tutorial. 8. CAMERA ON TRIPOD - and aim at inner point of glass 9. TURN OF AF - auto focus needs to be off 10. TURN OFF IS - keep any image stabilization off 11. ADJUST FOCAL POINT - adjust the camera to your focal point in the glass 12. SET CAMERA TO "M" - manual mode 13. APERTURE - start aperture at 11. You can very depth of field depending on the desired effect. 14. SHUTTER SPEED - set to 125 to 500. You need it fast enough to catch the drop (not beyond flash ability) 15. ISO - set to your lighting conditions. 16. MILK IN BOWL - use as source for dropper. Add food colouring as you progress shots.
