Form: sonata form In the exposition, four themes P1, P2, P3 and P4 are presented in the primary key area in C major before moving to the transition leading to the secondary key area in G major. Three different themes S1, S2 and S3 are presented in the secondary key area and then a codetta C. The development passes through D minor (relative minor of subdominant), C major (primary key), A minor (relative minor of primary key), G minor (parallel minor of dominant) and F major (subdominant) before re-transitioning back to C major. In the recapitulation, the main difference is that P3 is put in between S1 and S2 instead of between P2 and P4. They are now arranged P1, P2, P4, T , S1, P3, S2, S3, C. Mozart uses repetition and variation of each themes to develop and expand the whole sonata. Pianist: Mitsuko Uchida --- Hello! Welcome to this channel. Doing music analysis on a variety of scores and composers has been a hobby and favourite past time of mine since being exposed to it during a 18-hour Music Theory module in university (the rest are self-taught). I hope to share my work to enable the online music community to learn, understand and appreciate classical music better. Another reason is that I could not find much analysed materials as a music student; now that I know and can do a tiny bit on music analysis, I hope that materials posted will benefit music students around. Depending on score complexity, a new upload takes about a week to a few months. A tiny disclaimer is that while I strive to provide as accurate analysis as possible, please do not take my work as a final final answer, for I am always a WIP music student/teacher. I am very welcome to friendly discussion and debate on the analysis, and hope that we can share our knowledge and learn from one another.
