Recent Exchange vulnerability which is causing issues for on premise exchange servers. Attacker can execute scripts remotely on your exchange and can grab user information, password hashes and much more. Today I will show you how to patch your exchange server with the security fix provided my Microsoft and also to apply Cumulative update to your exchange server. Lets get started. I was using Exchange 2013 CU 12 so I have to update it first to CU23 to be able to apply security patch. CU update took around 11 hours for me. First I upgraded CU12 to 22 and then 22 to CU23. But you can directly go from CU12 to CU23 using the same process. ok so up to this point the installation was normal but then it took around 11 hours for the remaining steps to finish so be patient and make sure you announce an outage at your work place before head and give your self enough time. Once the CU update finished installing the security patch took around an hour. Security patches names are : First install this: Exchange2013-KB5000871-x64-en.msp Then this: Exchange2013-KB5001779-x64-en.msp it's nearly 80Mb in size. once CU update is finished you can proceed with installing this update. Once the patch installation is completed double check Exchange server components to make sure they are all active and also exchange services to see if they are all running or not, then check few incoming and outgoing emails.. As you can see all components and services are fine. at this stage you are fully patched and secure.
