When disaster strikes, the California Highway Patrol answers the call. Following the devastating wildfires that erupted in Los Angeles County on January 7, 2025, the CHP worked tirelessly to protect lives and property. The Emergency Operations Center was activated on January 8, with over 800 CHP personnel deployed around the clock in coordination with the California National Guard, LAPD, and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Special Response Teams were sent to prevent looting and unauthorized access to impacted areas, while officers cleared roadways to ensure safe passage for first responders and evacuees.
