Guided Meditation: ‘I Am’ Is the Highest Truth

Why is ‘I am’ considered the highest truth, the ultimate knowledge and the culmination of all experience in philosophy, religion and spiritual traditions? Rupert says: ‘Everything we know through the mind appears in accordance with the limitations of that mind. So, when we look at the world through the mind, we can never know what it really is. Exactly the same is true if we want to look at our self. In order to know the nature of awareness, we cannot look at it through the faculties of thinking and perceiving. The only absolutely true knowledge would be awareness’s knowledge of itself. ‘Awareness’s experience of itself is the experience that we refer to when we say “I am”. It is the ordinary, familiar, intimate experience that is present for each of us now. It is the most profound experience one can ever have, and we are actually having it all the time. And it is the only experience that does not take place through the mind.
