We say we want kids to be fluent with math, but what does that actually look like?? I’m Christina Tondevold, The Recovering Traditionalist, and today we are going to take a look at Students with Math Fluency in our quest to Build our own Math Minds so we can Build the Math Minds of our kiddos. In prior videos in this series I’ve talked about how we can define fluency, but in this video I’d like you to actually see examples of kids with fluency. Now remember, fluency is NOT just being fast and accurate. It also is being a flexible thinker. I go into more detail about that in the prior videos in this series so if you haven’t watched those use the link to go watch the other videos. There are lots of ways kids show you they are flexible thinkers but I’m going to share with you my Top 5. To get resources mentioned in this video and to watch the entire video series go here: https://buildmathminds.com/building-m... If you want to go deeper into learning about number sense and building true fluency (Efficiency, Accuracy, & Flexibility) with math for your students, enroll in The Flexibility Formula. It's an online course for K-5 educators and math coaches that specifically builds YOUR understanding of the 8 number sense concepts and how to help your students go from mindlessly following procedures to thinking flexibly when solving problems. https://buildmathminds.com/enroll/
