Using the DRV antenna splitter option on the TS-590SG, I can connect and use a second receiver off the same antenna. The DRV control will split whichever antenna port you’re using on the 590, allowing half the received signal to go into the RX circuitry or the rig, and the other half goes to the DRV port in the rear of the rig. I connected my FTDX10 to that DRV port (using an RCA to SO-239 adapter) and am using my DX10 now as a second receiver to the 590. The Kenwood manual states about 3 db of loss when using the DRV option, which in my opinion is hardly noticeable. Instead of using a full transceiver for the second receiver as I did, you could use an SDR receiver such as an RTL-SDR, SDR Play or others. One think to keep in mind if use decode to use a transceiver for this you need to try and eliminate the possibility of that second rig accidentally transmitting into the DRV splitter. The results of 100 (or even just a couple) watts going into the splitter could fry your 590’s receive circuitry. Please be careful!
