South African band formed in 1961 and which disbanded in 1962. They called themselves “The Giants” as the members were all over 6’ tall. Members: 1. Billy Forrest - vocals 2. Archie van der Ploeg - lead guitar 3. Eddie Burns - bass 4. Hank Squires - rhythm guitar 5. Van Goliath - rhythm guitar 6. Angelo Avlonitis - drums Billy Forrest needs no introduction. He is a legend in the South African music industry, not only as a singer but also as an arranger, producer, manager, etc, with a career that spans more than 60 years. The other members were all part of other bands during their careers: 1. Archie van der Ploeg - The Silhouettes (1959 - 1960), Little Archie & The Twisters (1962) and Zebra (1977). 2. Eddie Burns - the Strollers (1959), Johnny Kongos & The G-Men (1962), the Tempos (1963 – 1964) and Gene Rockwell & The Falcons (1964). 3. Hank Squires - The Sihouettes (1959 – 1960), Mickie Most & The Playboys (1960), Johnny Kongos & The G-Men (1962), the Furies (1964) and the A-Cads (1965). In 1965 he started a solo career and subsequently moved to Canada in 1966. 4. Van Goliath - Sebastian (1962). 5. Angelo Avlonitis - the Rousers (1962 to 1963). Al Bentley replaced Billy Forrest as vocalist on subsequent recordings. This song is from the album “Meet The Giants”, released in 1961.
