TIMESTAMPS BELOW In this video, we compare and contrast our four most popular Stratocaster pickup sets: the Vintage Tweed, Vintage Blonde, Sixty-Four, and Special S. We installed these pickups into a Jason Lollar-built Strat-style guitar. Each set is played through a Blackpanel Fender Deluxe Reverb amp model, both clean and with a little dirt from a Klon Centaur clone. All five pickup selection positions (bridge, bridge and middle, middle, middle and neck, and neck) are played to showcase their tonal characteristics, relative output, frequency response, dynamic response, sustain, and overall reaction to player input. While all of these sets deliver brilliant and instantly recognizable Strat tones, they each offer their own particular strengths, giving players the advantage of choosing which one fits their niche, when it comes to their own individual needs.
