Good morning! Introducing our new video all about Montessori language and communication activities for babies & toddlers ages 0-3. This video was created as a response to your feedback to our latest community survey asking which topics viewers were most interested in learning about. About 50% of 99 respondents voted for 'language and communication'. We hope this 'overview' video is helpful to you! What does Montessori language look like before 3? Not like what you might expect for Montessori -- there is very little "shelfwork" and no or few alphabet-based materials introduced before 3. Instead, the child learns indirectly and directly from the environment -- which should be language-rich and full of interactive engagement with parents, family and caregivers. Typical "materials" used to teach language to children aged 0-3 are those found in the infant environment and encountered in everyday life. Infants and toddlers depend on caregivers to engage them with this environment to build his confidence and "reveal" the world to him while teaching all the words for the things they encounters along the way. Most 0-3 language activities can be done with materials from home and natural environment.
