NEVADA GUN LAWS Compared to other states, Nevada has pretty lenient gun restrictions. You don’t need to register handguns anymore, and you don’t need a license to open carry. But there are three key things to know to make sure you’re following the law: 1. Under NRS 202.350, you need a current and valid CCW permit in order to carry a concealed firearm in Nevada. If you have a CCW permit from another state, make sure it has reciprocity with Nevada before carrying concealed here. Otherwise, you risk getting convicted for a category C felony, which carries one to five years in prison. 2. Under NRS 202.360, certain people are prohibited from possessing firearms in Nevada. These include people with felony convictions, people with domestic violence convictions, people subject to a domestic violence protection order, drug addicts, illegal aliens, or people adjudicated as mentally ill or who have been committed. Illegally possessing a firearm in Nevada is a felony. 3. The only way to have your gun rights restored in Nevada is to get a pardon. There is a mandatory waiting period to petition for pardons that is anywhere from five to 12 years depending on the class of crime the person was convicted of. LAS VEGAS DEFENSE GROUP, L.L.C.
