Todd's Dad (Tom) hasn't had very good luck with his garden the last few years. It was the point where he told us he was considering turning his plot into a parking lot for his camper. His Birthday was April 1st, so as a gift to him, we decided to try to bring some life back to his soil. It was some of the most compacted life-less soil we have ever seen. To the point, we had a hard time running our broad fork across it. Previously, he's never covered his soil at all. He would strip it every fall of leaves and all forms of vegetation - and leave it completely bare over the winter. After broad forking, we started with about 15 bags of manure compost and peat moss that had been amended with a nice balance of organic amendments. Then we spread about 4 bales of spoiled hay across the bed, and topped that with a thin layer of finely chopped wood chips to hold it all in place. Will it work out? We sure do hope so. We'll do some additional videos to update you all on the progress, over the course of the year. ____________________________ Want to show some Support for our Channel? Shop from this link to Amazon.
