Date(s) filmed: Sunday the 20th of October 2024 / Wednesday the 8th of January / Saturday the 8th of February 2025 Videos filmed at: 16:37 / 12:48 | 12:55 | 13:21 / 13:54 | 14:01 | 14:09 Route: Willesden Relief Lines Closest timing point: Mitre Bridge Junction (XMB) (on Real Time Trains) NOT used by trains heading to/from Willesden Junction Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: College Park, Harlesden (NW10 6RF) Featuring: @UKLevelCrossingsChannel @RH_TransportPhotography @SouthCoastLevelCrossings34 Electra Level Crossings - / @electralevelcrossings A rare level crossing located just south of Willesden Junction station and Harlesden in West London to the north of Kensington. This level crossing has been known for flat alarms lately, and these visits proved no different with one side's alarm flat again throughout. The other alarm, however, produced a neat-sounding slow tone on the first two visits, but was missing its frontal piece on the third leaving it sounding very quiet! This level crossing is rare because these alarms are YO5 alarms (very few other crossings have them) believed to date all the way back to the 1980s, the wigwags are NRS LED wigwags (possibly only the second ever LED install in the UK), these lights are mounted on strange street light-style poles, and the barriers have no skirts despite it being full barrier. Brand-new towering blocks of flats now overlook this crossing, and this whole region of London is heavily changing its appearance and feel. This video features three visits from three separate dates. The first was a very brief visit with a single Southern service heading between Watford and Croydon working an hourly service. On the second and third dates, traffic was much more varied, not just because I also filmed some 'Mildmay Line' services in action, as further Southern services were joined by a number of very differing freights, and also a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) on De-Icing duties with a 'car horn' salute. The most unusual catch in this video came from the second date, arguably. The first of two freight trains from that date was transporting a load of brand new cars from Toton in Derbyshire, near several automotive manufacturing plants, to Dollands Moor at the interface with the Channel Tunnel, taking multiple car transporting HGV's off of the road and being a very interesting sight in the process! This one was also 'double-headed', but the second locomotive wasn't powering, and the train was mostly carrying Toyota Cars. Simply, this longer than usual video has variety galore! This is easily one of my very favourite crossings, and trips to London with the featured (who also rate this crossing incredibly highly despite the frequent vans / HGV's) have meant that recent videos from here have racked up rather quickly. I really hope you enjoy this mega compilation, even if I stood pretty much in the middle of a puddle (an 'ocean') for one of the shots!
