JUST WEEKS AHEAD OF POLLS, Uncertainty clouded prospect of an alliance between the Samajwadi Party and Congress in UP after SP on Friday announced a list of candidates for 210 seats, including nine currently held by Congress, Congress called this announcement "unfortunate". The announcement of the list of SP nominees followed Tuesday's statements by UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and senior Congress leader in charge of the state Ghulam Nabi Azad indicating a pre-poll tie-up was a foregone conclusion.
