南山古寺建於南北朝梁武帝年間，距今1400餘年。唐代開元年間進入興盛期，六祖惠能、大顛禪師曾在此活動，韓愈、李商隱等歷史名人均與寺院有淵源。寺院歷經20世紀戰亂及文革損毀，至2011年僅存兩間破舊瓦屋。現任住持釋如珂法師募資修繕後重建大雄寶殿，延續宗教功能。| The ancient temple on Nanshan Mountain was built during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Northern and Southern Dynasties. It has a history of over 1,400 years. In the early Tang Dynasty, it entered its prosperous period. Master Hui Neng and Master Da Tian, both of whom were disciples of the Sixth Patriarch, were active here. Historical figures such as Han Yu and Li Shangyin had connections with the temple. The temple suffered damage during the wars of the 20th century and the Cultural Revolution. By 2011, only two dilapidated tiled houses remained.
