#paintpouring #fluidart #siliconeoil Silicone oils can be used in paint pouring to create the beautiful effect called “cells”, in an instant. Most of the oils I use in this video are formulated specifically for use with acrylic paints, although I have seen coconut hair serums, treadmill belt lubricant (also in this video), and other similar products being used. Silicone oils provide instant gratitude but balance it out with the demand for a lengthy and thorough clean up of your painting after it has dried. This and the risk of varnish and resin still “pooling” around tiny silicone oil spots that may have been missed or surfaced later, has had me move away from their use, and get cells through the use of effects mediums (such as Liquitex Effects pouring medium). In this video I am comparing side by side the following: U.S. Art Supply silicone oil Pixiss silicone oil Pouring Masters silicone oil TriArt silicone oil Treadmill belt lubricant (widely used as a replacement for silicone oil) Mineral Oil (used for cutting boards conditioning) - NOT recommended as a silicone oil replacement; I just wanted to see what effect it would produce. Paints and order in which they were layered: Mars Black (liquitex basics) Phthalocyanine Blue (liquitex basics) Titanium White (Amsterdam standard) Napthol Red Deep (amsterdam standard) Quinacridone Magenta (liquitex basics) P.M. Flood Floetrol Ratio: 1:4 and 1:5 (paint:floetrol) Thank you for watching! 😃
