Updated with names of victims and some new footage of the four bull shark attacks reported on South Padre Island, Texas. Around 11 AM, July 4, 2024, a man swimming with his family was pulled underwater by a shark. While medics were treating the man, a young girl reported also being bitten by a shark. Soon after, authorities received another 911 call reporting two more shark attacks. A Tabitha Sullivant was bitten on the calf, and a video shows bystanders assisting her while a her husband punched the shark until it released her. Good Samaritans used makeshift tourniquets to help her before she was transferred to a hospital missing most of her calf on the left leg.Her husband sustained injuries to the hand and leg. Emergency teams, including helicopters and boats, were deployed to track and corral the shark. Despite their efforts, the shark escaped to deeper waters. Cameras captured what appeared to be a large bull shark in the area. These incidents follow a series of 3 bull shark attacks in Florida.
