Thank you to Rick and Amanda for allowing me to document our day of milling at South Barn 1850. Rick’s experience as a marine engineer from superyachts around the world has provided the inspiration for innovative and sustainable design back home in the Lake District. Amanda is originally from Australia, but is settling quite well into Lake District life. Amanda and Rick met while she was working as a chief stewardess on super yachts. She’s often on-site supporting production for South Barn 1850. South Barn sawmill can mill timber up to 6.3 m in length and up to 1000 mm in diameter.
