Gear FAILURE While Testing the New Mast Position?

This week I tested the new mast position with stronger winds but half way through my gear Failed! With a forecast of 13 to 23kts I decided it was time to check if I had achieved the goal of having a balanced helm by moving the mas further aft about 4-5". So I took off with Rat Island as my destination since I haven't been there yet in 2025. wind never picked up more than around 8-9kts with the occasional stronger gusts but it was good fun and the boat handled beautifully. And right by Rat Island I experienced gear failure!
