At its core, Squid Game Season 3 suffered from a lack of payoff. Key characters like Dae-ho, Min-su, and even Jun-ho were given substantial screen time, only to have their arcs go nowhere. The narrative built up to confrontations that either mimicked Season 1 or dissolved into nothing. Jun-ho’s investigation, for instance, contributed nothing to the final outcome. Meanwhile, the most emotionally compelling moments—like Gi-hun’s moral descent—were either glossed over or reduced to symbolic gestures that didn’t hold up under scrutiny.
