Growers will try all sorts of stuff to push the envelope that little further. I have embarked on that journey this year and it's been a massive learning curve as growing for size is completely different to growing for food. One of the vegetables that I am growing this year as always is potatoes. But growing Giant potatoes let alone a world record potato is a huge commitment and not an easy task. Along the way there are challenges and disappointments, In this episode of UK Here We Grow I show you one of my first attempts at a world record giant potato and I don't mind telling you it was an epic fail. The current record is held by Peter Glazebrook and was grown in his garden at Halam, near Newark in Nottinghamshire. The Giant Potato weighed in at 11lb (4.99kg) The previous record of 8lb 4oz (3.8kg) was also held by Mr Glazebrook, for the previous decade. The great thing about having epic fails when trying to grow a world record potato is that each epic fail is a learning opportunity. It takes me one step closer to achieving my very own World Record. I still have 6 more containers to empty which are still growing, so who knows, there may be a world record potato in one of those.
