Mumbai Hostage Situation LIVE: 20 School Children Held Hostage, Rescue Call Received From School Massive drama unfolded as 20 children from LNT School in Mumbai’s Powai were held hostage by a man on the pretext of conducting auditions. The Mumbai police reportedly barged into the studio where the alleged auditions were taking place and safely rescued 20 children held hostage. The police have arrested the kidnapper who has been identified as Rohit Arya. Arya has admitted to have called the students on the pretext of audition. He said he had called 100 students for the audition but let free 80 of them and locked up the remaining 20 in a room. He was reportedly demanding certain contractual work when the police barged into the studio. The police reportedly opened fire to disarm the kidnapper and overpowered him to release the children from his custody. Please note that L&T has clarified that the said incident was not related to the AM Naik School referred to as LNT School in an earlier version of the report. The statement affirmed that the school, its staff and students were not involved in the incident in any way. One of their school buses was returning empty after dropping students home, which was then used in the rescue process to shift the traumatized children to the nearest hospital.
