CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WKRC) - Marty Stokes says the coronavirus is the talk of Cynthiana. "I don't know if shock is the word because we heard about it. I've been watching it. I think two weeks ago they confirmed a case in California, and we were talking and like, 'Yeah, I hope it don't come here.' And eight, nine days later, we're the first confirmed case in Kentucky," Stokes said. Stokes says fewer people are coming into his gas station since the town became the first in Kentucky with a confirmed case. Over on Main Street at the oldest restaurant in town, Biancke's Restaurant, the lunch rush is starting to pick up after being down since the infection. "People are starting to realize that this is -- it's not the end of the world. They just need to follow safety -- washing your hands, safety procedures, you know, different stuff like that, and everybody will be fine," Biancke's Restaurant owner, Jon Gruchow, said. Gruchow says they've started offering something they haven't in the past: curbside service. "If people don't want to come out, they can order and we'll run it right out to your car and bring it out to you that way. People who are still a little afraid to come in around people, we'll still provide food for them," Gruchow said. The town is as clean as it’s been. "There's not a dirty surface in the city, I don't think. We take all the precautions and that's what I told [the employees]. At the end of the day, you just don't know. All you can do is try to be safe," Stokes said. On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear said there are now eight confirmed cases of coronavirus in Kentucky.
