Let me tell you about Beer – one of the most charming little villages I've ever seen on the English coast. Tucked away in East Devon, Beer feels like a place where time slows down. You’ve got these narrow, winding streets lined with stone cottages, a small fishing beach with colorful boats pulled up onto the pebbles, and a backdrop of dramatic white cliffs rising up from the sea. It’s peaceful, quiet, and somehow untouched – the kind of village that still holds on to its traditional character. Even the name, Beer, catches people by surprise. It has nothing to do with the drink – it actually comes from an old word meaning "wooded place." But it fits in a funny way, because this place is refreshing in its own right – like a cool breeze on a warm day. One of the highlights here is the Beer Quarry Caves – these incredible underground tunnels where stone was once mined to build famous buildings like Westminster Abbey. Walking through them is like stepping into history. But honestly, what I love most is the atmosphere. There’s no rush, no noise – just the sound of the waves, seagulls, and the occasional boat engine. It’s the kind of place where you sit on a bench, sip a cup of tea, and feel like everything is just... right.
