Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has completely given up, not only in preventing Andhra Pradesh from diverting Krishna waters arbitrarily, but also in resolving the water sharing issues. Board gives up on AP's water exploitation Advises resolution through a three-member committee AP's usage exceeds its quota A staggering 670 TMC this year KRMB still unresponsive to Telangana's complaints Board also provides false figures on AP's water usage KRMB makes weak excuses, citing the need to consider the summer season Hyderabad, February 9 (Namaste Telangana): The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has completely given up, not only in preventing Andhra Pradesh from diverting Krishna waters arbitrarily, but also in resolving the water sharing issues. It has limited itself to merely giving unsolicited advice to use water sparingly as water levels are falling. Ignoring Telangana's objections and understating the figures for AP's water usage has now become a subject of discussion. The board is making weak excuses, suggesting that the two states should resolve the water usage issue through a three-member committee. Board's false figures... Andhra Pradesh is continuing to divert Krishna waters indiscriminately without indents or board approvals. It is diverting as much water as possible from Srisailam upstream and through the Nagarjuna Sagar right canal downstream. From the foreshore of the Srisailam reservoir, Andhra Pradesh diverted over 200 TMC of water to the Penna basin through the Pothireddypadu project alone, an unprecedented amount. In addition to this, AP also misappropriated another 42 TMC of Krishna waters through the Malyala and Muchumarri lift schemes. 125 TMC of its quota still remains, which is needed for the Rabi season and summer drinking water requirements. Water levels in the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar reservoirs are falling significantly. On the other hand, the Telangana government has now woken up and is writing letters to the KRMB (Krishna River Management Board) to prevent AP's water theft. However, it is noteworthy that the board has concluded that AP has only diverted 555 TMC so far. Siding with AP... The board recently wrote a letter to AP, citing Telangana's complaint. In reality, there are no tribunal allocations regarding water usage shares between the Telugu states. In this context, since the formation of the state, both states have been utilizing Krishna river waters only through temporary agreements. Every water year, from June to May 31st, a three-member committee under the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) decides how much water each state can utilize from the common reservoirs. This committee, comprising the board's member secretary and the Engineer-in-Chiefs (ENCs) of both states, holds meetings periodically throughout the year, depending on the seasons. Taking into account the demands of the states and the available water reserves, it allocates water shares to both states. On the other hand, it has been passively observing while Andhra Pradesh diverts water without submitting any indents or obtaining permissions. Congress's failure is the reason... Officials and farmers are criticizing the Telangana Congress government's failure as the reason for Andhra Pradesh's brazen actions and the board's conduct. Senior officials even directly met with the board chairman recently to stop Andhra Pradesh. Almost two months have passed since then. Although the board's conduct was being reported regularly, the Telangana government leaders remained silent. Even though the three-member committee meeting was not convened, the Congress government did not question the River Board about this. On the other hand, there is a dire situation looming where there will be a struggle for irrigation water under the Nagarjuna Sagar ayacut and for drinking water during the summer.#telugu Welcome to T News Live.
