Lipedema Surgery Update: Power-Assisted Leg Suction for Significant Lipedema Hi everyone, I’m Dr. Boris Volshteyn. We haven't done a video about Lipedema from the operating room in a while, so I wanted to show you something important today. This patient has fairly significant Lipedema, not stage 4, but it's affecting her quality of life with pain in her legs, especially as she has started part-time work involving a lot of walking. In this video, we're performing power-assisted leg suction to help alleviate her symptoms. Let me walk you through the process: Incisions: We use small incisions to minimize bleeding. With enough time for the solution to work, the patient doesn't bleed much. Technique: The goal is to make these areas as flat as possible by approaching from multiple directions through these incisions. Lipedema Nodules: We focus on removing the Lipedema nodules, especially in the lower legs where they are more visible. Tools: We're using good-sized cannulas and have improved our compression dressings to enhance results and reduce swelling. We'll be doing a follow-up video to show the decrease in volume and the patient's progress. We're also using new products for better compression on the inner knees.
