This is the studio version of "Little Egypt" from Ken Theriot's 2014 album "Outlaws and Bystanders" - http://www.ravenboymusic.com/outlaws-.... This song is about the Romani peoples, who started migrating out of what is now northern India somewhere near the year 500 AD. They appeared in Western Europe in the early 1400s. Their leaders sometimes styled themselves as dukes and earls (for example - "The Earl of Little Egypt"), and were even received as visiting royalty, while the bulk of the "gypcyans" - as they were starting to be called in England in the 1500s - were often viewed with great suspicion. Cultures who were "different" were often discriminated against, simply BECAUSE of those differences. Sadly, this is still the case, though it was far FAR worse in medieval times. Less than a century after their arrival, most countries had written laws to expel, enslave, or execute the gypsies. So just by being Romani, the gypsies were considered outlaws.
