For episode 2 of our Hittin' The Highway Sneak Peek series, we headed to Fletcher Pond in northern Michigan in this 2012 Born Free 25RB. We tried out its features and gave the systems a good test run at Jack's Landing to give you a preview of what your RV adventure could be like (and to make sure Fletcher is ready for the new owners!). Check out the full tour of this Born Free a.k.a. "Fletcher" coming soon here on our YouTube channel. View all of our current inventory at truckandrv.com Fletcher's Pond is a special place for our friends Troy and Jason Parrett; they came here regularly with their mom and dad growing up. Doug taught his sons to be fine sportsmen, and even better people, and Fletcher's Pond holds many dear memories that they are now passing onto Troy's son Oliver, and us (Jason is engaged so there could be more "Little Parretts" coming soon!) Samantha and I (Luke) never knew Doug when he wasn't sick -- Troy came into our lives when he met and married Samantha's high school friend, Kyrsten. But I knew Troy would be a lifelong friend on the day of his dad's funeral when the pastor asked before concluding the service if anyone would like to say anything. Troy exclaimed that he would, and the moment he got in front of everyone, he burst into tears. Despite that, he fought through the emotions to give his dad a final tribute of love and respect; it's a moment I hope I have the strength to recreate someday at my dad's funeral. Since then Troy, Kyrsten, Samantha, and I have become inseparable friends, and Troy and I's relationship has deepened to the level of brotherhood. I overheard Jason talking with a fishing buddy about how things were going on our trip, "I'm here with some of my brother's friends," he said. Samantha and I had to let him know after that, "we're not your brother's friends Jason, we're YOUR friends too!" Some backstory on a touching moment that happened at the pond: While cleaning fish, a man came in with his son and waiting for us to finish cleaning our fish. While chatting we noticed he was drinking Miller Genuine Draft -- the same beer that Troy and Jason's dad Doug always drank. We had a good laugh about this as the two of them shared father son stories about their yearly trip to Fletcher Pond and how it had become a magical place for their family. Before we left, we asked their names -- the father's name was Doug, too! It felt like Troy and Jason's dad was reaching out to them saying "I'll live on at Fletcher's Pond" - after that, we knew this trip would certainly one we'd remember the rest of our lives. We hope you enjoyed coming along with us on this fishing trip and feel inspired to get out there, RV or not, and experience the many things this world has to offer.
