Anatolian Leo Abstract: There are thirteen districts of Kütahya in the Aegean Region. The subject of our study is Gediz, about 95 km southwest of Kütahya and 45 km north of Uşak. The history of Gediz dates back to the Phrygians (750 BC). The settlement, which was managed as a sanjak during the Seljuk State and Germiyanoğlu Principality, was later under Ottoman rule. Gediz, the flood in 1875, 1901, 1911, 1945, was destroyed by fire in 1911 and the earthquake he had suffered in 1970. After the earthquake of 1970, with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 05.08.1970,7/1164 no, the settlement was moved to the so-called “Karılar Bazaar” which is 7 km away from Eskigediz on the Simav highway. In the land survey conducted in Eskigediz in 2018, ten fountains, six bridges, two laundries, two baths, an aqueduct and a water reservoir belonging to the Ottoman and Early Republican period were identified. The presence of the Gediz River in the city is one of the main factors that provide diversification of water-related structures. The buildings have undergone local changes with user and natural destructions. In this study, the plan and space fictions of the buildings examined in situ were introduced with the methodology of Art History and their place in the water structures built during the Turkish period in Anatolia was discussed.
