I Took Red/Orange Line Metro Bus in Islamaba Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus is a 83.6 km (51.9 mi) bus rapid transit system operating in the Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area of Pakistan. It consists of four routes, namely the Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines. The Red and Orange Lines have dedicated lanes with proper stations built along them, while the Blue and Green Lines currently run along the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway respectively, with regular traffic. To provide a safe, efficient and comfortable urban transportation system and reduce the growing congestion problems in Rawalpindi; Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) has established Bus Rapid Transit System in Rawalpindi known as Pakistan Metro Bus System. The Pakistan Metro Bus System operates between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The line was inaugurated on June 04, 2015. Orange Line Bus Service in a high-profile inauguration ceremony attended by key stakeholders of the project and foreign diplomats. It is the second phase of Islamabad’s very famous BRT system, which runs between Peshawar Mor and Islamabad International Airport. When running at full capacity, the Orange Line would have 30 modern buses, which would be enough for the system to run efficiently. According to an estimate around 2500 to 2600 commuters would be using this service on a daily basis. During peak hours, a bus would leave and arrive at the station every 5 minutes, which is to make sure that users of this state-of-the-art service won’t face any delays. While the development work on the remaining track and bus stations is being completed by the National Highway Authority (NHA), the procurement of buses for the project is being handled by the CDA.
