Oregon House approves Moda Center renovation plan as 2026 session ends

Oregon lawmakers were racing to pass bills Friday in the 2026 Legislative Session, which wrapped up in the evening hours. Coming into Friday, lawmakers still had much to address regarding the Moda Center renovation plan. The Oregon House passed Senate Bill 1051, which establishes a framework for funding the plan and sets rules for disbursing funds to the project, by a margin of 43-13. Five Democrats and eight Republicans voted against the legislation. The Senate passed SB 1501 on Wednesday. It allows the state to form a partnership with local governments that could partially own and oversee the facility. The bill also requires approval of the project’s scope, budget, and construction timeline before financing moves forward. Lawmakers must pass a separate bonding bill to finance renovations.
