Samiopoula - celebrating Agia Pelagia (and meeting goats!) Γιορτή της Αγίας Πελαγίας

Agia Pelagia on Samiopoula: the 8th of October is a special day for the island of Samiopoula, because it is the feast of Agia Pelagia, the saint the small church on Samiopoula was named after. This year, we decided to go for a quick visit to light a candle in the church. Before we go off to Samiopoula, though, there is a yacht with the name Flying Manta that caught our eye just in front of Pythagorio harbor that we want to take a closer look at! Traditionally, captain Yannis organizes a tour for locals and tourists alike to the small island of Samiopoula on this day, to celebrate the feast of Agia Pelagia. After the church service the guests gather together for a meal and for dancing together. We continued our small walk on the island on the other side and were greeted by the local goats, who followed us all the way down to the beach. What a nice, short and spontaneous visit to Samiopoula it was!
