This Viking Orion Review looks into how the Viking Cruise is the fifth ship to join the fleet. She set sail on the 8th of July 2018 and is offering a similar experience to her sister ships in the Viking Ocean Cruises fleet. Viking Orion has a maximum capacity for only 930 guests which, shows she is an intimate mid-sized-ship cruising experience. And by being similar to these ships, which are ocean cruises with a river cruise mentality, you will really be able to explore the destinations she goes to, in a totally different way in comparison with any other line. The distinct Viking Cruises design is very much Scandinavian and has a very minimalist design. They include all on-board meals, selected drinks with lunch and dinner and selected tours. They aren’t considered All-Inclusive because, all drinks aren’t included during your cruise but, I don’t know about you but, I think what is included will make you feel like a very special guest with a luxurious line. Her smaller size aids direct port access in many sought after cruising destinations. So, she will be able to get right into some of the locations that the other new big boy ships won’t actually be able to get to. She will have a variety of destinations in her itinerary starting in places around Australasia and moving to Alaska in the Summer. So, if you’re looking at all the new ships that are being released and thinking… I want to go on a new ship that can still get into those tiny Alaskan ports then, Viking Orion is for you. Viking Orion has a large range of Itineraries though. It is unlikely that you will have the same cruise in a row. As well as Australasia and Alaska she will go to the Far East, Asia, North America, Middle east and the Mediterranean. So, as I mentioned if you’re looking for a cruise ship which, you can really fall in love with and go on multiple times without, constantly travelling to the same places then, Viking Orion is definitely one of those ships. Enrichment Programs seem to be a big innovation to most smaller cruise ships at the moment. In fact We did an interview with my old boss Bill Fletcher from Holland America recently. And like Holland America, Viking are trying to enrich their guests with more of an exploration feel when you travel with them. And before you step foot on shore, there are plenty of guest lectures, history experts and academic luminaries, chosen by the Viking Enrichment Board.
