Wasim Raja was born in Multan on 3 July 1952. His various roles in the sport include schoolteacher, match referee, coach, and player were all British Pakistani. Between 1973 and 1985, he appeared in 54 ODIs and 57 Tests for the Pakistani national cricket team. Besides being a splendid left-handed stroke maker who thrived in adversity, Wasim Raja was also an excellent cover fielder who opened Pakistan’s bowling on occasion. He was also a useful leg-breaks googly bowler with great athleticism.
