Hound Dog by Elvis Presley is a 12 bar blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Recorded originally by Big Mama Thornton in 1952, Hound Dog was Thornton's only hit record, selling over 500,000 copies. The best-known version is the July 1956 recording by Elvis Presley which sold about 10 million copies globally, was his best-selling song and "an emblem of the rock 'n' roll revolution". It was simultaneously number one on the US pop, country, and R&B charts in 1956. We love the energy and tempo in this tune and here's our cover of this great song with Matthew playing lead guitar after having broken his left collarbone 16 days ago. He's firmly on the mend now and can play while sitting down. Rumpus Machine is a sibling rock band playing live classic rock music and original songs! We are brothers and sisters from Auckland in New Zealand. We like to learn and perform new songs together and play modern music and classic rock songs.
