What starts off feeling like another fun, chaotic Guardians adventure quickly turns into a surprisingly heartfelt story about family, pain, identity, and belonging. Between all the hilarious banter, insane visuals, and classic Guardians energy, this movie really hits hard when it wants to. The stuff with Peter Quill and Ego, the tension between Gamora and Nebula, and especially Yondu’s arc delivers such an emotional gut punch. Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Kurt Russell, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 expands the cosmic side of the MCU while digging deeper into these characters emotionally in a way we really weren’t expecting. With its colorful sci-fi world, emotional character development, and massive cosmic stakes, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 pushes the team further than ever before and delivers one of the most heartfelt stories in the MCU.
