Every year, around 350,000 surgeries are performed to repair these hernias, making it one of the most common operations worldwide. This study looked at two modern surgical techniques used to fix ventral hernias: TEP (Totally Extraperitoneal) and e-TEP (Extended view Totally Extraperitoneal). Both methods use small cuts and cameras (laparoscopic surgery), which means less pain and faster recovery. The newer e-TEP technique, introduced in 2017, gives surgeons a better view and more space to work with during the procedure. Researchers observed 60 patients with simple ventral hernias. They were divided into two groups and underwent either TEP or e-TEP surgery. Both groups had the same care before and after surgery. The results showed that while e-TEP surgeries took a little longer, they were easier for surgeons to perform, required fewer open conversions, and allowed more precise movements during the operation.
