Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition involving the median nerve of the hand becoming compressed and causing characteristic signs and symptoms. Compression of the median nerve can be due to a variety of causes including injury, overuse, or arthritic changes. Tinel’s sign and Phalen’s sign are two clinical tests that can be performed to assess whether an individual has carpal tunnel syndrome or not.
