Futurist speaker Travis Taylor has worked with the Department of Defense & NASA for the past 25 years and has top secret clearance with the US Government. Travis has earned six degrees (in optical science, engineering, physics, aerospace engineering, astronomy and electrical engineering) and recently completed a second Ph.D. in aerospace engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Alabama. Travis built his first rocket at age six and has been a space geek ever since. He is currently working on several advanced propulsion concepts, very large space telescopes, space-based beamed energy systems, high-energy lasers, and next generation space launch concepts. Travis has written more than twenty five technical papers, fourteen science fiction novels and two textbooks. He has appeared in multiple television documentaries including National Geographic Channel's highly-rated special "When Aliens Attack", the History Channel's production of "The Universe" and "Life After People." Travis has briefed the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) staff, Undersecretaries of Defense, the office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, staff and/or directors of the following: DDCIs, DDNROs, ONI, SOLIC, SOCOM, DIA, CIA, DDR&E, NSA, NGA, AFRL, DARPA, NOAA, NASA. In the summer of 2011, the National Geographic Channel announced a new series named Rocket City Rednecks which features Travis Taylor. Travis is the ringleader of Rocket City Rednecks. Rocket City Rednecks is about five backwoods guys from the city of Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville is home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and the birthplace of the U.S. space program. The cast loves to shoot stuff, drink beer, and solve real world problems by combining redneck ingenuity with advanced engineering and physics.
