The first thing I need to do is install all of the electrical and dust collection components. I'm choosing to do this now while I have easy access inside the dust collection compartment. The added benefit of doing this early is that you can easily use the dust collection part while you're building! Next up is the top. I'm using the Kreg ACS (Adaptive Cutting System) in this build because I think it packs such a huge punch in a small footprint. It's not cheap so I want to take care of it. The first step to doing that is to seal the MDF top with a 1/2 water 1/2 polycrylic mixture that I've seen others have success with. MDF is THIRSTY! I ended up using 4 coats with a light sanding in between and it could have honestly probably taken 8! With the top sealed up I mounted it to the workbench which means I can now use it. It took just a minute or two to install the track brackets and get everything squared up. Once it was set up I could start making very accurate, controlled, and even repeatable cuts. What a lifesaver in a small shop! I quickly cut out all of the drawer parts out of 1/2" MDF. Now it was just a matter of assembling the drawers and installing them in the workbench. I'm really happy with how the plans turned out for this project because it makes this part a breeze! The drawers were all mounted in about 20 minutes, which would normally have taken me 2 hours. After putting on the 2 dust collection compartment doors...I was done! For now...
