Laser-Guided Autonomous Landing of a Quadrotor UAV on an Inclined Surface (Poster Presentation)

This poster presentation outlines a new approach to estimate the altitude of a hovering UAV along with the (flat) ground plane orientation to assist with landing autonomously on an inclined surface. The system uses a single camera and several inexpensive 5 mW red laser modules for onboard sensing, and a nonlinear least squares estimation scheme provides an estimate of the parameters of interest from redundant measurements.
