I’m a full-time singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist sharing my journey through a variety of genres. ________________________________________ About this song: "Born In The Country" This song began with a simple rhythm on the ukulele. As I strummed along, syllables and melodies started to form, and within seconds, the phrase "I was born in the country" emerged as the song's recurring motif. From there, I was guided by my past. Raised in the countryside, I hold a complex relationship with those memories. While I don’t have many great recollections from my childhood—especially given the lasting effects of early childhood abuse that took place mainly on a farm—this song represents a significant part of my healing journey. It's about reclaiming those country vibes and searching for the silver lining in my experiences. Through this process, I’ve learned to love and protect myself. I grew up fast, but those challenges ultimately shaped me into who I am today. _______________________________________ Instrumentation & Vocals: As a female vocalist, I tend to stay in my chest voice, which may be influenced by my early admiration for male singers—many of whom I learned songs in their register. Over time, my chest voice has become very comfortable. I do add a touch of gravel or the “Janis” sound occasionally for emotional effect.
