The presentation focuses on vector measurements of weak (Earth's like) magnetic fields using fluxgate sensors. The introduction mentions their principle of operation and the current state of the art. Development goals, methods and infrastructure available at CTU-FEL are shown and briefly described. This includes software for FEM analysis, a Kerr-effect microscope for observing magnetic domains or calibration methods using scalar calibration or 3D coil systems. Applications of fluxgate sensors typically take advantage of the decrease in magnetic field from a dipole source with the cube of the distance using two or more sensors for gradient measurement. Several scientific, industrial or security applications are presented, for example UAV magnetic field mapping for geophysical survey or a complex system for demagnetization of rock samples in zero field for paleomagnetic experiments. The presentation concludes with a summary of the results and possibilities for further research.
