Birdhouse Gourds, a type of Calabash (Lagenaria siceraria), are a beautiful plant to have in the garden. However, the vine can take up lots of space, so if you can set up a trellis, hog panel or cattle panel for them, or anything they can grow on, it would be better (see video link below)! In this video, you will learn how to properly dry a birdhouse gourd that you harvested green, how to drill into a birdhouse gourd without breaking it, other things you need to know to make a birdhouse out of a birdhouse gourd, seed collecting, and a little bit about growing them. Be sure to check out the videos below, in which, in the first video, I sow birdhouse gourd seeds indoors in March; in the second video I talk about growing and harvesting luffa, which is very similar to growing and harvesting birdhouse gourds; and in the third video, starting at about 22:50, I show how I set up a hog panel, solo. I created a one minute clip as well of this, which is the fourth link. Videos referred to in this video: Part two of Everything to Sow in March • Sowing ABUNDANCE in March - Part 2: GETTIN... If you've grown luffa, you can grow birdhouse gourds. It's very similar, and a little easier: • Luffa (Loofah) - From SEEDS to SPONGE - CO...
