🩺 Register for On-Demand courses now at: https://www.qrs-education.com Welcome to North Shore Health Network in Blind River, Ontario, Canada, where I was finishing an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course for the nurses and doctors of Blind River, Thessalon and Richard Landing-Matthews Sites. In this video, you'll see a raw, unscripted recording of a nurse assisting with endotracheal intubation. This is a key skill in emergency care, especially in rural healthcare settings where resources can be limited. Typically, in a cardiac arrest scenario, there are only 2-3 staff healthcare members on a night shift and typically 4 on a day shift. Our mission at QRS Educational Services is to help these healthcare professionals form their own unique "High Performance Team." In rural hospitals, there are no Respiratory Therapists and sometimes no physician available for up to 20 minutes. Nurses play a critical role in patient care, stabilization, and management before, during, and after a cardiac arrest. Watch as I demonstrate intubating a manikin with the skilled assistance of Nurse Jasmine. We also used the Glidescope to visualize and assist with the endotracheal intubation, enhancing the accuracy and safety of the procedure. In real cases, the physician or Respiratory Therapist first confirms proper endotracheal tube placement by visualizing the tube passing the vocal cords, as demonstrated in this video. This was our first and only take, capturing the authentic teamwork required in these situations. Please remember, proper PPE should always be worn. This video is for training purposes only; nurses do not intubate patients with an endotracheal tube in real-life scenarios. Thank you for watching, and a special thanks to Jasmine for her invaluable help. #endotrachealIntubation #airwaymanagement #intubation #cardiacarrest #emergencycare #nursing Follow QRS Educational Services!
